Savio House

After a little break the Rector Major was back on the road towards the youth retreat centre, Savio House. Here he spent an hour listening to the community of SDB’s and gap year volunteers about living together in community. He was amazed that this work has been present in our province for over 30 years always in conjunction with the lay people. He was full of praise for the efforts made on both sides to live and work as one, something he suggested that was not without its difficulties. After this he wandered over to the National Youth Ministry group of past and present Salesian animators waiting for him in the Mews. There Sue McDonald presented the current work of SYM GBR and Don Ángel spoke about the role animators have of witnessing to their faith. He then listened to the animators and answered questions. He said that he felt like he was ‘at home with friends’. He then celebrated Mass with Savio community and SYM, dined and had a relaxing evening that included stories, singing and a goodnight song.
